Couples Counseling

With couples counseling it’s helpful to understand how your background has set up a relationship structure from which you conduct yourself--your “Relationship DNA.” From this understanding, partners often obtain a better perspective about their conflicts and struggles, and thereby can replace tired, unfruitful patterns that have been in play for many years. Couples learn how to regulate their emotions, problem solve, and negotiate difficult situations using healthy relationship skills.

The framework I use for couples counseling is Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) which is a highly effective, structured approach to address relationship distress.  EFT focuses on the emotional experience of each person in the relationship and the pattern of communication between them.
